Don?t Just Post, Create: Irrive Debuts Collaborative Social Scrapbooks

trip-2Joining a new group of companies looking to build services on the backs of users' social networks,?Irrive is debuting its social scrapbooking website, soon to be followed by its mobile apps. The company was founded by Steven Cohn, whose previous startup?BuyYourFriendADrink was acquired by LivingSocial back in 2009, helping LivingSocial to enter the daily deals market. Irrive's focus - although playing in the same general social space - is a bit different, however. It's focused on automatically organizing content from networks like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Foursquare and Flickr into attractive virtual scrapbooks centered around life events, like vacations, holidays, weddings, parties and more.

iPhone knocked off its perch as number one smartphone

Despite their courtroom stumbles, Samsung is scoring some major sales achievements

What's the most popular smartphone in all the land? Given that we're mere days away from the introduction of the iPhone 5, you'd be forgiven for thinking it's Apple's flagship iPhone 4S that takes top honors. But for the first time ever, the iPhone 4S has been knocked off its perch by rival Samsung.

Though Apple may have beaten Samsung in court, it appears that Samsung is beating Apple in the marketplace. According to an August marketing survey, customers at Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint all prefer the Samsung Galaxy S III to the iPhone 4S. Apple's smartphone still has some cachet with AT&T customers, but its not enough to knock the Galaxy S III out of the number one position nationwide.

Why is the Samsung Galaxy S III making waves on the top smartphone charts? Well, simply put, it's a great phone?? Tecca recently rated the Samsung Galaxy S III a 4 out of 5. But more to the point, the Galaxy S III is a newer phone, released earlier this summer, and capable of taking advantage of 4G networks. By comparison, the iPhone 4S has been out nearly a year and is only able to attain 3G speeds ? it's slow enough that reps at Verizon are actively steering customers away from it. Once the new 4G iPhone 5 comes out later this month, you can expect to see it topping the sales charts all across the board.

Egypt's Sewedy Q2 profit slides 82 pct

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's dominant search engine Baidu Inc rolled out a mobile browser on Monday to help secure its share in a mobile Internet market that surpasses the U.S. population in size and to fend off smaller rivals such as Qihoo 360 Technology Co. In China, the number of users who access the Internet from mobile phones has risen to 388 million, according to a government report in July, outstripping the number of users who access it from a desktop computer for the first time. ...

We rely so much on our smartphones these days, not just for phone calls but also for the information and access that they supply. ?Bigger screens are nice, but it’s always a compromise between screen size, weight and battery life. ?What do you do when you’re not near a power point all day (or multiple [...]

Breakthrough tiny implant Scenesse could prevent skin cancer and ...

AN implant that protects the skin from cancer while producing a safe tan should be launched soon.

Users of Scenesse get a bronzed glow without burning within two days ? and the effect lasts for two months.

Clinuvel, the Aussie firm that developed the treatment, insisted it is for medical use and is not intended for cosmetic tanning.

The implant, the size of a grain of rice, is surgically placed just above the hip. It then releases an artificial version of a hormone needed for tanning.

This tricks the body into thinking it has been exposed to the sun?s rays and triggers a reaction which forms a protective barrier beneath the skin.

As well as providing defence against skin cancer, it will help people who suffer severe allergic reactions to sunlight.

Clinuvel?s Dr Hank Agersborg said: ?We aim for efficacy against several sun-related diseases.?

Scenesse is in the final stages of testing and could be available within two years.

AS skin cancer cases soar, this implant provides real hope. Its creators stress it is a medical treatment, NOT a cosmetic tanning aid.

But fans of the bronzed look will be desperate to know if they can use it too.

Only medical regulators can decide if will be a safe alternative to sunbeds.

Syria says new Egypt president 'Mubarak with beard'

Syria hit back at Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on Monday saying his Islamist beard is the only thing that distinguishes him from the veteran strongman he replaced after last year's Arab Spring uprising.

Responding to high-profile criticism from Morsi at a Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran last week, Information Minister Omran al-Zohbi charged that the Egyptian leader was complicit in the armed revolt rocking his country.

"He is responsible for spilling Syrian blood, as are the Qataris, the Saudis and the Turks," Zohbi said.

"The only difference between him and (ousted strongman Hosni) Mubarak is that he has a beard."

The Syrian government prides itself on its secularism. The Muslim Brotherhood, for which Morsi successfully ran for Egypt's presidency earlier this year, has long been outlawed in Syria on pain of death. It is one of the most powerful factions within the opposition Syrian National Council.

Morsi caused a storm on Thursday when, on the first visit to Iran by an Egyptian leader in decades, he slammed Syria's regime as "oppressive" and urged support for rebels seeking President Bashar al-Assad's ouster.

"Our solidarity with the struggle of Syrians against an oppressive regime that has lost its legitimacy is an ethical duty, and a political and strategic necessity," he said.

Good Advice For Walkers And Hunters | Health and Fitness Blog

As the unusual colored leaves bedazzle the fall scenery, hikers and hunters country wide will head over to mountain tops, woods and fields, but several, unfortunately, most of them are badly trained for beating their feet. Hunters and hikers will typically navigate the most rugged terrain.

Walkers, hunters and among others who enjoy the outdoors consistently hardly understand how arduous it can be to tolerate continual, strenuous walking on unsteady landscape. Taking walks up and down sloping hillsides and wandering through muddy, slick fields and wooded areas places tension on the muscles and tendons in the feet and ankles, in particular if you have not conditioned decently before reaching the trail.

The most effective gear for walking up and down in the woods is a high quality pair of well fabricated hiking boots. This purchase in quality boots prevents sprained ankles or strained Achilles muscles.

It is wise for walkers and hunters to make a purchase in top-grade hiking boots. Sturdy, well insulated and moisture-proof boots with steel or graphite shanks provide terrific ankle and foot support that allows lessening strain and muscle tiredness to prevent down injury risk.

In wet and crisp, cold temperature, putting on suitable socks can help avoid blisters, fungal infections and frostbite. A fine synthetic sock for the initial layer retains dry feet and lessens rubbing that forms blisters. For the second layer, wool socks offer warmth, catch wetness away from the skin, and help to make the hiking boot cozier. Wool makes it possible for moisture to evaporate more rapidly than cotton, so fewer blisters grow.

What happens if your feet or ankles hurt during a hike or hunt? Pain usually occurs from overuse, being out of shape, or perhaps from just walking. Should you be not familiar with walking on sloped or uneven ground, your legs and feet will get tired and trigger muscles and tendons to ache. To prevent a serious injury, like a severe ankle sprain or an Achilles tendon rupture, rest for a while if you start hurting.

Moderation can be another good technique to follow when first starting out in the woods. Evaluate hiking to skiing in that beginners should take on simpler and easier trails until they become better conditioned and more confident. Using common sense in starting easy will make your hunt more comfortable and enjoyable.

A Closer Look at Outsourcing Benefits for Large and Small Businesses

Even if you have a big or small company, you will find that outsourcing is very important. This is something that can work extremely well for even a one-person online marketing business. Anyone can see why this is true because it probably applies to larger companies too. Just understand that this involves business resources of all types. It doesn?t matter if your business is big or small or even resource rich or poor, your business can enjoy many benefits when you outsource labor. There can be some pitfalls depending on what you need and where you get your help from.

When the company is seeing good profits, particular things that can be outsourced will have to grow. This is a good way to tighten up on money and not squander away valuable resources. There are a lot of businesses online and off that can benefit from outsourced labor. But online marketers have in some cases radically altered their financial situation thanks to outsourcing. The average marketer has no idea how much outsourcing can alter the state of his or her business.

Any business should analyze all their departments to identify what can be outsourced. Despite the fact that no one feels comfortable sacking people, it is still the obligation of any business owner to increase the efficiency of their operation. But the outsourcing services would really help you if you have any problem in your own site.

Being at mid-level, there are plenty of companies who cannot afford to have certain departments. So this is a very real need to just outsource all those tasks. Keeping these expensive departments often cause instability because the business cannot quite afford to maintain them. Think about how the risk to your business could be mitigated by simply outsourcing to the right people when you really need it. Not only can you save money, but you can also free up some valuable time if you hire a contractor on a temp basis.

The benefits will include lower costs as well as great convenience. Other beneficial situations such as this can arise from outsourcing intelligently. Many businesses are affected by seasonal changes to business productivity. For these businesses, there are things that really need to be addressed.

Reader: ?At huge Jacksonville Landing Romney ... - Legal Insurrection

So writes reader Jim, who sends along several photos from the Romney-Ryan rally in Jacksonville which is starting as of this writing. (added: Prof. Reynolds also is posting reader photos)

He further writes: ?Line for RomneyRyan Jax Landing event ? two lines both way longer than this appears?:

Then ?Jax landing total insanity!!?

More:

Post-script ? Jim?s phone ran out of power so he couldn?t take more photos, but he did send along this account of the afternoon:

Jacksonville Landing was absolutely electric with I would estimate two to three thousand people screamIng for Romney and Ryan. It was a total blast to be there. It was literally one of the most fun things I have ever done.

The warm up speakers included Jennifer Carroll, the African-American Republican Lieutenant Governor of Florida.

Speaking of that, I am surprised at how many African-Americans were there ? there were a lot.

Tons of military veterans too.

Romney and Ryan both look fantastic up close. Ryan is obviously in superb physical condition and Mitt looks great too. Their speeches were great and covered some of the same ground as their convention speeches, but they also totally hammered Obama for the unemployment rate, the drop in average family income of $4000, which I don?t recall hearing before, the national debt, huge cuts to defense spending looming, etc. Mitt also reiterated his 5-point plan. The crowd loved it.

Ann Romney spoke for several minutes too, and she was great.

But the best part was after the speeches were over and Mitt and Paul Ryan came down from the stage to shake hands with the people. Mitt really tried to connect with everyone he could. I pressed forward and eventually got to shake his hand. He had a firm handshake and looked me right in the eye for a split second. I actually forget what I said to him because it was such an insane moment.

I was actually a little afraid because so many people were pushing behind me to get a chance to shake Mitt?s hand. It was totally insane. Like a mosh pit at a rock concert, like maybe an AC/DC or Led Zeppelin concert!

The?level of enthusiasm for this ticket was shockingly high in Jacksonville.

And outside I counted 9, yes 9, lame protestors wearing purple SEIU shirts and screeching unintelligibly. It was perfect.

Update 10:10 p.m. ? Jim follows up:

Holy crap I?m watching the 10 O?clock news and they are saying 9700 people were at the Landing today ? that is unbelievable!! 9700 people!! The Landing is like 150 x 150 feet ? it is two stories but still ? wow!!

?
